Devlog06: Production 2 w1


Hello again! It's been a while.

A new Production phase has started! Here is our progress so far.


Clouds & Storms

The clouds from last time had a problem with the movement with the wind: it was dependent on Time, so changing the direction caused a recalculation (which was very noticeable, impeding a smooth movement direction change). That is no more! Instead of using Time, we add a vector directly to the Position used for the projection of the noise. The value of that vector is updated via code.

Now they move in the direction the wind is blowing, and they do it smoothly, as God intended! Clouds will also move faster when the storm rears it's neck!

Storms a brewin'

Storms now also change the colors of the clouds into a menacing darker shade. Scary!


Bumpy ride

The ship now bounces off the terrain. No more getting stuck in corners!
Players now also take a small amount of damage when hitting terrain.


HUD!

You were probably wondering what was happening when you shot someone? Why did your boost stop working? Which ammo type were you using?

Well, wonder no more, because a new HUD is in town! Bars, icons, player colors, all is shown to you!


Wind particle

We also have a brand new wind particle effect, it will soon replace that mesh in the middle of the scene.


New Airship, foliage and... a rocket?!

Yes, a new Airship will soon join the fight! We are still deciding on the color (pink is in the air) but we can already show it to you!


There's been progress with the foliage for the arena as well. Is not in the scene yet, but the models and textures are made. Only the wind movement missing! We also made a mask to allow us to change the colors in-editor, so we can use it even just to add variation.


Time to take out the heavy stuff! During the game you have access to different ammo types, so it's only natural that there would be something more powerful. What could be better than a nice rocket?



Other improvements

Maybe you noticed, maybe not, but if you compare the images and gif from the HUD paragraph downwards, to the other ones, you can see that there is no linear, harsh line between the clouds anymore!
We also changed the post processing a bit.
And of course more in the background ;)
