Devlog09: Polish w1
You got the Boost, use it! (Seriously, read the controls)
Our airships are now equipped with propellers! They are animated as well, to get extra feedback when you boost (other then the particle effect). Speaking of animations, the airships are now rigged as well, so we will add animations to them as well during out final sprint. Make sure to be on the lookout for that next week!
Oh, the crown? That's the player who's winning! Clearly that player will always be you right? You wouldn't dare give up that shiny bejeweled crown to some other peasant player right?!
You can die in Style now!
When you (inevitably) die, you will do so in a much more graceful way than before! But it's probably not going to make you feel any better... But it sure is gonna make the other 3 players feel a heck of a lot better. What was the saying? Ah yes, "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." Now don't feel too bad, you'll get your chance at revenge when you respawn.
Now this is pod racing!
We've noticed how lovely zooming through the skies is and we've decided to give your boosts some more fuel. Can we afford it? we doubt it, but you're giving it anyway. Not only that, we've also endeavoured to improve player feedback when boosting. Now your boost flames get a different colour to more easily differentiate from the fire damage state.
What does this do?!
You've probably wondered that so many times, but wonder no more! Each pick-up now displays its ammo type for your glorious eyes to perceive. On top of that, you also cannot pickup the same ammo type as your current one. This allows you to keep your eyes on the chaotic battlefield instead of rushing over to the hud to see your ammo type.
Now we can properly restart
Now you don't get to keep your ammo type after the match. To compensate we have decided to let you keep the particle effects when restarting. What's that? You never noticed they dissappeared? Well uh... Of course they didn't, we were just testing how observant you were. We'd of course never make such mistakes. To be safe however, we've added extra ways for particles to not break.
No it's not an earthquake
Believe it or not, but that epic rumbling as you plunge to your temporary slumber (respawning for the win, woohoo!) is not an earthquake but your very own controller. We mean it this time! It really is your controller, and not your buddy's controller.
Ready? Set? GO!
No we're not a race game, but we have added 2 countdowns. One tells you when the match starts while the other tells you that you might wanna shoot faster if you intend to get those last sweet succulent points and win that oh so shiny crown.
Tally up those scores!
The end screen has gotten a lot of work over the week. Now you get to see your glorious ship rotate around together with all the other ships. You're probably wondering what makes you, the person who obviously always wins, stand out compared to the rest. Well we've added the shiny crown that was previously mentioned!
We've also gone past the boring method of simply displaying your scores and elevated our minds to tallying up the score as if it was an arcade game. Gloat with the tallying in the background as you surpass your rivals in sweet sweet points.
But what if people want to take away your victory? Fear not player, for we have added a delay for pressing the play again button. You've earned that victory and they will be forced to endure it.
New HUD and title screen!
